 FILLERS
The aging process generally causes a loss of volume as the underlying collagen,
hyaluronic acid, and elastin fibers begin to deteriorate and fat stores in the face decrease.
This most commonly occurs around the eyes, mouth, cheeks, jaw line, brow, producing
crow's feet, laugh lines, folds and furrows on the forehead, and "hills and valleys" on the
lower third of the face. Soft tissue fillers have the unique ability to fill and contour these
changes.
Soft tissue fillers are flexible substances that are injected into the skin to improve the
appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, plump lips, fill hollow cheeks, repair various facial
imperfections, improve scars, and elevate deep folds. The result - a smoother, more
youthful appearance with minimal "downtime" and maximum safety. Some of the fillers that we use at Freia now come pre-mixed with lidocaine pain-killer to further minimise discomfort. We do not believe in using permanent fillers for any part of the face. This is because as our facial features change as we age, the permanent filler will not, and that will be the start of a lot of problems. Hence, we only use temporary, reputable fillers that last about 1 year.
How can filler injections help me look more youthful or improve my appearance?
In general, fillers are very popular for correcting age-related lines on the nasolabial folds, tear troughs, sagging cheeks, thinning lips or even to enhance your nose shape. Apart from rejuvenating one's looks, fillers can also enhance one's features.
Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
In most cases, the most common complaint would be that the nasolabial folds, or the laugh lines around the mouth are getting deeper. You wake one day, and realise those laugh lines are here for good. Thankfully, nasolabial folds are easily correctible with the appropriate dermal filler. People will notice what a nice smile you have, not the deep lines that characterize your smile. The same applies to marionette lines, which are the lines that appear from the corner of our mouths down to the chin.
Tear troughs
You may have noticed that the dark eye circles are getting more prominent with time, to the extent that a prominent line is starting to show. While it is important to use eye creams daily to slow down this process of collagen degeneration under the eyes, only a filler will be able to replace the collagen that has been inevitably lost over time. Correctly injected, the under-eye area can be marvellously rejuvenated. The result would be noticeable improvement to the dark circles, smoothening of the lines that were threatening to add years to your appearance.
Cheek prominence
As we age, the fat pad that gives us that youthful appearance on our cheeks gradually sag and diminish with time. We begin to look more tired and sallow. A filler can be injected to restore that prominence instantaneously. This would give the mid-face a nice subtle lift, rejuvenating and plumping up the skin to its optimum once again.
Some of us are born with a rather flat cheek profile. Dermal fillers can be used in the same way to plump up "flat cheeks". This would improve one's profile significantly for that Hollywood effect, or "apple cheeks" as some of our patients like to say.
Sultry lips
Lip tissue may thin with age, with resulting vertical lines showing. Dermal fillers are excellent to correct this problem. For those who are born with very thin lips and long for fuller lips, do consider lip filler augmentation. Natural, effective and long-lasting, lip fillers are very popular for these reasons.
Freia Nose Best
The two most important features on our face are your eyes and nose. Studies have shown that we are drawn to these parts before we even subconsciously evaluate the rest of a person's face. Apart from the eyes, the nose can be enhanced to bring out the best in your facial shape and look. Humped, flat, rounded, short noses can all be enhanced instantly, thanks to the advent of filler injections. A longer, sharper, higher, straighter nose bridge would instantly give that slimming or lengthening impression to your overall face shape. This in turn creates an instantly more elegant, refined look. The nose bridge height and level is all important. It is not about trying to produce the highest bridge. On the other hand, if an insufficient amount of filler is used, the opportunity to create that exquisite look would have been lost. Conversely, if the filler injection is not applied appropriately, you may very well end up with an even more rounded or button-shaped nose than before you started. What is important is having an intimate knowledge of the dimensions of a perfect nose, and then applying it individually so that the nose becomes harmonious with the rest of one's features.

Chin
The chin is an often overlooked area or feature of the face.
