How To Know If You Are A Candidate For Lipo

Liposuction, or more popularly known as lipo, is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fats in areas in the body which could not be otherwise removed just by exercise and diet. These stubborn fats usually collect on the hips, stomach, buttocks, chin, arms, and the breasts. Lipo is not generally considered a weight loss alternative. The contoured shape of the body as a result of liposuction is an effect of the procedure. Lipo patients should understand that keeping a healthy diet is needed to maintain this contour.

A self-assessment prior to undergoing a lipo procedure is beneficial. Lipo is a safe procedure, but the candidate for liposuction should be honest with the surgeon about certain present conditions to avoid any complication.

First, be sure that you appreciate that the lipo procedure is a need, not just a whim. Although you are well aware that a better body shape results from the liposuction surgery, understand that the surgery is not a cure-all for a shapely body. You have to do your part of keeping to a healthy low-fat diet and exercising.

Second, report conditions that may debilitate you during and after the surgery. Such conditions may include but are not limited to restricted blood flow, coronary artery disease, diabetes or a weak immune system.

As with any surgery, it is imperative that you have good health to help your body recover after the surgery faster. Do your part in preparing for the surgery – do not abuse your body. To get the best results from a lipo procedure, both patient and doctor help each other make the body beautiful by not harming it.

Another indication that you are a candidate for lipo is if you have enlarged breasts that need breast reduction by liposuction. Sometimes, women develop large breasts that already prove counter- productive to their lifestyle. Liposuction will definitely be able to alleviate this concern.
